One thing you will rarely, if ever, hear from a tax happy Democrat is that he has a enough of your money. So it is that Governor Kaine needs a special session.
Gov. Tim Kaine is calling the General Assembly into a special session June 23 to consider a new transportation funding package, lawmakers said yesterday. (from here)
Richmond (and Washington too) does not have enough our money? When we just give it to them, how could they not have enough?
Is it possible we have not put sufficient restraints on how politicians get our money from us? If a stranger just walked up to you and politely asked for your billfold, would just hand it over? If this stranger made a bunch of wild promises, would you then hand over your money?
What politician is not a stranger? Don’t you insist on seeing what you are getting before you give over your money? That common sense attitude is why people use to insist on paying for roads and other public infrastructure with user fees such as tolls and fares. Governor Kaine, however, wants us to trust him. Yet he never seems to have enough of our money.
